TABLE TENNIS: Crown secure crown
Crown won their final two matches to pip Didcot A for the Didcot & District League Division 1 championship, writes Roger Templeman.
After whitewashing Abingdon A 10-0, with Greg Donovan, Ray Powell and Nigel Taylor invincible, Crown clinched the title with a 7-3 win over Letcombe A 7-3, courtesy of another Taylor hat-trick.
The Division 3 title went to Letcombe B who were awarded a 10-0 victory after Abingdon G had fielded an ineligible player.
This left Moreton C and Howbery B contesting the runners-up position.
John Talbot's brace for Howbery B was enough to get him the division's best player accolade, and with John Birkin adding a maximum, they won 6-4.
But it fell just short of the 8-2 scoreline they needed to move above Moreton.
The Division 4 championship went right to the wire. Wallingford, with a David Quinn treble, beat Abingdon H 8-2 to put them level on points and games won with Drayton E.
Wallingford finish top by dint of winning more fixtures.
As expected, RAL F took the Division 5 title.
