FOOTBALL: Faringdon eye up cup double
Faringdon Town completed the first part of their quest for a cup double with a 3-0 victory against Botley United in the final of the North Berks Charity Shield at Abingdon United.
The North Berks Cup finalists took the lead on 22 minutes when Paul Hulme fired home from inside the six-yard box.
Andy Potter thought he had equalised, but the goal was ruled out for a foul. Moments later, Robbie Harrington doubled the lead when he put away a cross from his brother, Derren.
Faringdon centre half Danny Martin cleared off the line, before Matthew Howe made it 3-0 as Faringdon lifted the cup.
Ten-man Ardington & Lockinge Res won the Nairne Paul Cup with a 4-1 victory against East Hendred Res.
But they had to do it without Paris Lewis who went off with a broken wrist after only ten minutes following a collision with East Hendred's Mark Smith.
Tom Atkins gave East Hendred a 22nd-minute lead with a 25-yard strike, before Tom Eatwell levelled after being set up by Kevin Pryde.
Five minutes later, Ardington took the lead with a super strike.
A cross from the right was chested down by Sam Childs who tucked the ball beyond the reach of Jonathan Francis in the Hendred goal.
Ardington went further ahead with a Liam Bint penalty.
Childs was dismissed for violent conduct, before Pryde sealed victory with No 4.
Saxton Rovers went down to a 2-1 defeat against newly-crowned Division 1 champions Lambourn Sports.
Matthew Pedder and Adrian Mooney put Sports ahead, before Rovers pulled a goal back through Craig O'Connor.
In Division 2, Lambourn Sports Res won 3-0 against troubled Kingsclere to take the runners-up spot ahead of Grove Rangers.
Terry Amor notched a double, with Danny Bowsher also on target.
Coleshill Res avoided relegation, but condemned Long Wittenham to the drop with a surprise 3-1 victory against Benson AFC.
Peter Soane (2) and Robin New, with a penalty, were on target for Coleshill.
In Division 3, Drayton Res fought back to beat Childrey United 5-1.
James Wilkins put Childrey ahead, only for Drayton to hit back in devastating with a double from James Brown. Dominic Ladd, Carl Bolton and Ben Toboada were also on target.
In Division 5, Challow Res had a settle for a share of the spoils as they drew 2-2 with Stanford-in-the-Vale Res.
Jason MacDowall and Cameron Rankine netted for Challow, with Stephen Eltham and Richard Evans replying.
