Serious threat
The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford is under serious threat. The reason is that the funding for highly specialist services from the Department of Health has ceased.
I have had three lots of specialist treatment in the last ten years. Ten years ago, I was on the verge of losing my leg. But, with the excellent treatment I have received over the years, I can now walk on my own two feet, with no one else's help necessary.
It is much better, and cheaper in the long run to pay for specialist treatment when indicated, than to amputate and pay for aftercare for years to come, hopefully a good many.
From a very grateful patient.
