Shops delay is big concern

We have serious concerns about delays to the refurbishment of Abingdon's Bury Street precinct.

Threadneedle Property Investments, which manages the shops, is saying nothing about when work will start. The ultimate owners of the centre, Vale of White Horse District Council, which has an agreement with Threadneedle that the work will be completed by 2009, is saying nothing either.

It does make you wonder whether this refurbishment is going to take place at all. In the meantime, congestion and the unsuitability of many units for major national chain shops continue to hold Abingdon back while shopping centres all around them raise their game.
