Bank of England 26 Finchley 20
London League 3 (North-West)
Finchley put up their best performance of the season in a tough encounter away to Bank of England on Saturday.
The home side, fielding several South Africans, were on the back foot as Finchley's pack drove forward.
They were rewarded with an early lead when Bank were penalised twice and scrum half Webb made no mistake with his two kicks.
Finchley went further in front when Young broke through a gap and ran diagonally across the field to touch down beneath the posts.
Approaching half-time, Bank of England converted two penalties of their own and after a mistake by Finchley scored a converted try to level matters.
Bank took the lead with a converted try and penalty but the deficit was reduced to three points when Finchley's Houghton and Campbell combined for an 80-metre try near the posts.
A dubious high tackle gave the home side an easy penalty which was converted to seal the match.
