Traders offer £250 prize

ABINGDON traders have come up with a way to lure shoppers - the promise of a £250 prize draw.

From May 17 until May 31, Abingdon Chamber of Commerce will hold a promotion called Spring into Abingdon.

Shoppers can collect a card and for every £5 they spend in certain parts of the town, they receive a stamp.

When all four segments of the card are filled with stamps, the customers enter into a prize draw to win £250 worth of shopping vouchers.

don`t really see the point of this when the total situation in abingdon is dire.
lack of facilities, entertainment and the horrendous traffic situation. don`t even think a million pounds will save abingdon shopping centre........
much rather go to didcot even just to visit woolworths....

That would pay for a few days parking in Abingdon. Very rare to spend £5 in any shops in town.

Sounds great but then read again carefully. To qualify for the draw you have 15 days to collect stamps covering 4 segments of the card (total number of stamps required?), each stamp being obtained by spending £5 in certain shops (most shops or just a couple?).

Is it just a coincidence that the attached advertisement is for the national lottery rollover £12 million jackpot. Which draw has the better spend:win odds?!!!

Abingdon has a new Thai and Oriental Supermarket where Hadleighs China shop used to be. And if you need something late at night there is the new Londis opposite - open until 11. A new gift shop will soon be opening on Stert Street.
