A COMMUNITY show for the whole family produced by The Watermill Theatre and the Boxford Masques will be performed at Hoar Hill, Boxford, from Wednesday, July 30, to Sunday, August 3.
Although Knight and Day will be performed at the top of a hill, it will have full theatrical lighting and sound effects. Paul Kissaun's talented Gigscool Band will be there too.
Knight and Day, adapted from a story by Charlotte Peake, is a passage of arms to celebrate the birthday of the Sun's oldest daughter, Aurora, who is adored by all the knights. Soon she must decide who to marry.
Banners flutter, trumpets blow, cheerleaders assemble as the Queen's Knights (the days of the week) prepare to do combat for her hand in marriage. Aurora has demanded that they fight to the death, but if the favourite, Sunday, kills all his opponents, can the world really get by on a one-day week?
Nothing about the tournament goes to plan however, particularly when the Darkest Knight, who is also in love with the Dawn Princess, enters and plans to win her in a far more direct manner.
It's all great family fun. Organisers say that when darkness falls, glittering lights will help create a beautiful space in which the story can continue to unfold among the beech trees, which are so magical, they seem to whisper in the breeze.
A vehicle is available to provide transport to the top of the hill and tickets can be booked on (01635) 46044. Members of the audience can picnic on the hill from 6pm; the performance begins at 7.30pm.
