Firefighters are battling a blaze at a house in Chiltern Crescent, Wallingford.

The bungalow is believed to have caught fire after an explosion in a caravan parked nearby at 6.20pm.

Five fire engines were called to the scene after residents reported hearing the explosion and seeing a plume of black smoke drift across Fir Tree Avenue.

Must be out by now it's raining. I can only assume it's news when a house catches fire, what happens after that the reporter doesn't seem to care

What a shame that you three have nothing better to do other than make stupid comments about this. If it were your houses or someone you knew, I am sure you would not take kindly to the comments. No matter how it happened or how bad the damage is, it is still very shocking, upsetting and painful when there is a house fire!

I do believe your understanding of the first two comments is flawed. They are meant to reflect that the Mail carries a story then fails to carry it through to it's conclusion. The comments per se are aimed at the sloppy journalism not the fire or its effects. Get it now?

Calm down dear, I think the comments were aimed at the guy who said "one less caravan on the roads then".

Yeah, go Angry Angus. Caravans are scum. One less is cool. They double the journey time of people that need to be somewhere. You all know AA is right.........look me in the eye and say you've never sworn at a combined mobile bedroom and toilet on the road. Yep thought so!

There was not an explosion in the caravan, that is not how the fire started, The editor should print the correct story not speculate! Also if it were you involved would you like it if people wrote stupid and upsetting comments on here about your property and belongings?? I am a close family friend of the people involved and all of this is very hurtful in a time of crisis. Just stop and think before you type rubbish...WHAT WOULD YOU FEEL LIKE IF IT WERE YOU THAT HAD LOST EVERYTHING! MOST OF WHICH IS IRRIPLACEABLE ESPECIALLY PERSONAL ITEMS. Be more sympathetic...next time it could be you!!

Just another example of sloppy journalism I am afraid. The reporters seem to get half a story - do not check if it is the truth, then go to print. Just try getting them to correct it though!!
