Street marks golden date

RESIDENTS broke out the bubbly at a special party to celebrate 50 years on the same estate.

Tony and Sylvia Curran held the party at their home in Tyrrells Way, Sutton Courtenay.

They were the first people to move into the former council estate in 1958. Their neighbours moved in the next day.

Some 20 of the couple's original neighbours and their children came along to celebrate the milestone and reminisce.

Mr Curran, 74, said: "It went very well and was a nice day as well so we got rid of a few bottles of Champagne.

"We ate and drank and talked about the old days.

"When we all moved into the new estate, we sort of helped each other, did each others' gardens and chatted over a beer in the garden."
