Police issue rave warning
POLICE in Oxfordshire today warned that they would be robust against people planning to set up illegal raves in the county.
The warning follows the first illegal rave this season, in West Oxfordshire, last weekend.
A member of the public reported the rave near Holwell, Burford. Officers attended and monitored the situation, which involved about 100 people.
Police are encouraging the community to report any unlicensed events early to allow them to disrupt the event before it begins.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said it was the force's intention to minimise disruption by stopping large amounts of traffic coming into small villages and loud noise from revellers throughout the night.
He said: "Officers are also concerned for the public safety of the people attending events like these; as they often involve excessive amounts of alcohol consumed by large numbers without adequate safety precautions in place."
Insp Andy Higgs, of the West Oxfordshire Local Police Area, said: "We are working closely with our partners within the local authority to combat the problems and disruption these events cause to the community.
"We will investigate and assess all illegal raves in accordance with the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act.
"We will also allocate resources to prevent raves taking place as they are often unlicensed and frequently involve large numbers of people unaware of the potential dangers involved as well as the disruption they cause to others.
"I would urge anyone with any information concerning illegal raves over the forth coming weekends and months to phone police via 0845 8 505 505."

Excellent use of Police time.
What we need to do is keep as many young people as possible confined in city centres where they can pay vastly inflated alcohol prices, compete for taxis and places in fast food queues and disturb far more city residents as they walk home.
Nanny NuLabour have sanitised, controlled and taxed entertainment (and everything else) for young (and older) people to the point where there just isn't any fun in going out.
Only this week a pub goer in Oxford was arrested for refusing to take a drug test at the door (there was no mention that he or she had done anything to disturb anyone or even indicate that they possessed/ had taken any drugs.)
Young people like to go out, dance, meet new people, listen to music- and yes, some will disturb others, some will take drugs, some will go crazy and be [italic]'... unaware of the potential dangers involved'[/italic] (that statement sums it up- [bold]POTENTIAL[/bold] dangers- in 2004, according to RoSPA there was a rise in ‘trouser related incidents’ causing people to be admitted to casualty which went up from 4,500 in 2003 to 9,000 in 2004- shall be ban trousers?!!)
Start catching serious criminals and stop wasting our time and council tax money staking out a bunch of kids in the middle of nowhere.

This was my party! Bit of a shock to see it on thisisoxfordshire. I believe we organised it very well. And we cleaned up etc, No-one was hurt blah blah . But anyway these freepartys are much safer than going out to a club and getting into fights and vandalising stuff . Our rig wont be going out in the oxfordshire area anymore i think though. B[bold]y the way the police were really nice to us! thankyou ![/bold]
